La Barloworld si prepara al Giro del Capo
Gli scalatori si stanno preparando alla trasferta sudafricana in vista del MTN Giro del Capo 2008 (4/8 marzo) gara a tappe particolarmente sentita dal Team in quanto si corre sulle strade di casa del main sponsor.
Felix Cardenas, Christopher Froome, Robert Hunter, Daryl Impey, Christian Pfannberger ed Hugo Sabido saranno al via della cinque giorni con partenza da Wellington ed arrivo a Cape Town dopo oltre 613 km nella speranza di bissare i successi dello scorso anno (tre vittorie di tappa, la classifica finale e numerosi piazzamenti).

Pfannberger-Hunter, doppietta Barloworld in Sudafrica
La Barloworld ha chiarito subito le cose nel Giro del Capo: la prima tappa, 105 km con arrivo a Wellington, ha visto infatti il succeso dell'austriaco Christian Pfannberger con il suo compagno di squadra Robert Hunter che ha conquistato il secondo posto.

Giro del Capo: la seconda tappa al danese Morkov
Il pistard danese Michael Morkov ha vinto la seconda tappa del Giro del Capoo, la Durbanville - Durbanville di 146,7 km, superando in volata il compagn di fuga O'Loughlin. In classifica generale resta al comando l'austriaco Pfannberger della Barloworld, vincitore della tappa di ieri.

Giro del Capo: quarta tappa al belga Cornu
Il giovane belga Dominique Cornu della Silence Lotto ha vinto la quarta tappa del Giro del Capo, la Old Hellshoogte Pass - Hellshoogte di 149 km, precedendo il portoghese Sabido della Barloworld e l'olandese Malaya Van Ruytenbeek. L'austriaco Pfannberger resta al comando della classifica generale alla vigilia dell'ultima tappa.

Barloworld in trionfo al Giro del Capo
E' stata una giornata felice per il Team Barloworld quella di oggi, nonostante lo sforzo imposto dalla salita di Signal Hill, visto che per il secondo anno consecutivo la squadra ha dominato e vinto il Giro del Capo. Il capitano della squadra Robert Hunter, Christian Pfannberger, Christopher Froome, Hugo Sabido, Daryl Impey e Felix Cardenas hanno brillato durante i cinque giorni di gara portando a casa il miglior bottino possibile. Robert Hunter ha dimostrato agli sportivi sudafricani di non essere un semplice sprinter (anche se domani proverą a ripetere nella Cape Argus la vittoria del 2007) conquistando la maglia di leader del Gran premio della Montagna, mentre Christopher Froome ha coronato una corsa disputata in modo eccellendo conquistando il secondo posto nella generale proprio grazie al risultato ottenuto nella cronometro di Signal Hill. Il campione austriaco Christian Pfannberger, alla sua prima stagione con la maglia del Team Barloworld, dal canto suo ha dato una bella dimostrzione di forza, aggiudicandosi sia la classifica generale che quella a punti.
La cronometro conclusiva a Camps Bay (5,5 km) non ha dato particolari problemi a Christian Pfannberger, che si č piazzato terzo ed ha mantenuto la maglia di leader, mentre Chris Froome ha tratto profitto dalla prova contro il tempo con un piazzamento (settimo) che gli ha permesso di salire al secondo posto della classifica finale.
Claudio Corti, che ha guidato il Team Barloworld dall'ammiraglia, ha detto: "Sono felicissimo del risultato odierno. Vincere in questa bellissima cittą, a casa del nostro sponsor č un'opportunitą speciale per noi, e per questa ragione noi tutti della squadra siamo felicissimi".
Domani la giornata conclusiva con la Cape Argus: anche questa volta Rob Hunter conta di ripetere il successo del 2007!
